Zoe Wood, his roommate's girlfriend, was hired by Johnny. The issue is that Zoe is unwilling to report to work. Johnny, though, is done. Despite living in the same house as him, Zoe has made no contribution to the bills, while he has been paying more than his share. If Zoe has to pay Johnny in another way, like by fucking him, that's great.
